Autumn Leaves

image

Frost’s cold cloak trails,
scattering spent leaves,
hesitating in hollows.
Dry reeds rattle, rustle,
shivering in death’s breath.
Honking high wild cries,
fair weather deserters flee.
Wingless, I remain,
embracing blustering Jack.
